Basic Conveyor Systems

Roller conveyors are primarily divided into two main groups according to their operating principle:

1. Gravity (Non-powered) Roller Conveyors: These are free-spinning systems that operate without motor power, using an initial push or the force of gravity (with a 1-1.5% incline). Each roller moves independently. As a simple and economical solution, they are widely used at points such as supermarket checkouts, X-ray machine exits, and the end of assembly lines.

2. Driven (Powered) Roller Conveyors: These are systems where the rollers are turned by a motor and a transmission element (chain, belt, etc.). This structure ensures that the transported product moves forward continuously at a controlled, constant speed. It is ideal for transporting heavy loads, for automation lines, and for material flow on non-inclined planes.

* Tapered Rollers (PVC or Polyamide): Used in curved conveyors to ensure that the belt or product remains correctly aligned.

* Sprocketed (Driven) Rollers: Critical rollers in driven systems that transfer motor power to other rollers via a gear mechanism.

* Belt Centering and Guide Rollers: Prevent the conveyor belt from shifting sideways, ensuring stable system operation and preventing material spillage and belt damage.

* Motorized Rollers: Special rollers that contain their own drive motor and can move independently. They can be used at specific intervals to power non-powered rollers.
